$5,500 Dispersed to Those in Need

September 22, 2010

I hope this note find you rested from a relaxing summer and ready for an enjoyable fall and winter. In recent weeks, your Friends for Friends Executive Board met to review the donation nominations on hand, and to put the finishing touches on a brand new website that will keep you better informed on the operations of FfF.

Thanks to your generous support of FfF annual events like our Trivia Night and golf outing we are able to continue to help area families caught in the crosshairs of crisis, like the four families listed below:

The first donation went to a young man who was diagnosed with MS and was forced to move back home. FfF donated $1,500.00 to cover some home remodeling expenses to help make his life a bit easier.

The second donation went to a family whose daughter fell while away at college and has been in a coma since the accident. The family’s insurance company has denied coverage of transportation expenses associated with bringing the young girl back from Ohio to an area hospital. Friends for Friends has donated $1,500.00 to help defray some of the costs.

The third donation is for a single mother with three children who has been diagnosed with Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma, a rare form of cancer, and is unemployed. To help pay some of her medical bills, FfF donated $1,000.00.

The fourth donation went to a man who died of brain cancer.  The family was given $1,500.00 to help pay some of the funeral arrangements.

Sadly, the above scenarios are a far too common slice of life for families in our area and serve as a constant reminder for all of us to give thanks for the Blessings we enjoy. Thank you for allowing Friends for Friends to continue to express your concern and support for those in need.
