Kindness Rises From The Ashes of Schoolhouse Blaze

Many in our Friends for Friends family are aware of the recent devastating fire that destroyed Our Lady of Angels School in Morton, PA.

Now while the three-alarm blaze laid waste to the structure of the former Our Lady of Perpetual Help school building, the same cannot be said for the spirit of the community that is determined to carry on with their Catholic education commitment.

Inspired by this effort forged in Faith, your Friends for Friends Executive Committee met and approved a donation in the amount of $1,000 that will go directly to help replace the school supplies necessary to conduct daily classroom activity.

The outpouring of community generosity includes Cardinal O’Hara High School opening its doors to welcome the 400 plus OLA students from pre-kindergarten through 8th grade to ensure their school year starts on time.

“We will welcome them with open arms,” the school said in their announcement. “Our Lions will take very good care of our new Lion Cubs!”

The Friends for Friends mission statement – “the community becomes stronger as we help one another” – has never been more evident than in the aftermath of this tragedy.

A Go Fund Me page has been set up to replace the destroyed school supplies and classroom items. If you would like to contribute directly to this relief fund, click here »

Direct donations by check may be made payable to Our Lady of Angels, and mailed to:
